Showing up is more than a rainbow

I was honored to work on a project that felt impactful, healing, and supportive to my queer community. As lead copywriter, I evolved our 2022 Pride campaign beyond the original scope to create a 360 experience that provides care for queer minds.

Creative Director: Joseph Maines

Designers: Lauren Allik, Christine Cha, Katie Burtwell

Product copy

A mix of uplifting and serious meditations and videos creates space to support queer people and allies at all stages of their experience. Plus partnered content from GAY TIMES.

Showing up at LA Pride

The goal of this campaign is to affirm, heal, and inspire young queer and trans students — who are deeply affected by poor mental health access — that their minds deserve support as they are.

Easter egg inside hat

My favorite part of this campaign: merch that carries pride wherever you go. If pride is what’s on the inside, then we need to help create inner safety for queer people who encounter non-inclusive homes, schools, or spaces.

Queer love saves lives

Headspace for Teens helps to provide free, everyday care for students 13-18. Headspace is a proud partner of The Trevor Project, Peer Health Exchange, and GAY TIMES to tell the stories of queer minds.

Bringing everything together

Editorial, content, and social impact all worked on showing up for pride, but I was able to help bring everything together. Having touched every piece of copy I turned assets into a campaign. GAY TIMES, LA Pride, in-app content, and editorial will all drive people here.

Mindful ways to use personal pronouns and inclusive language

Mindfulness and meditation can help us unlock the power of speaking with authenticity and intention. And overcome fear or uncertainty so we can be inclusive, show kindness, and accept people for who they are.
